Approach

In a day and age when large consulting firms are swallowing smaller firms, Pi Environmental is bucking that trend. A quote once hung on Albert Einstein’s wall in his office at Princeton that read:

Not everything that can be counted counts, and not everything that counts can be counted.

At Pi, we are focused on consulting our clients on what counts. This sounds simple in concept, but there are many who simply do what has been done before and lack the passion for the science to dig deeper, dispute standard ideas, and most of all, look for more efficient ways of doing things.

Our emphasis is on finding the right way, thereby prescribing a solution for our clients that is pragmatic, cost-effective, and answers the question at hand. We use plain language for our non-technical clients to help them engage their technical challenges in a way that makes sense to them.

Another famous quote by Einstein is:

Any intelligent fool can make things bigger, more complex, and more violent. It takes a touch of genius—and a lot of courage—to move in the opposite direction.

Genius might be overstating it a bit, but we are trying to work locally and develop our small firm into a creative, flexible, and imaginative consulting group. Unencumbered by the overhead that plagues larger firms around the country, our small business footprint allows us to keep rates low, take a more creative and innovative approach to our projects, and internally house the most up-to-date and specialized technical equipment for each and every task. We are confident in our approach, and with twenty-plus years in the marine sciences, confident in our ability to support any marine environmental project in California.
